How it works
What a ceramic coating actually takes
The coating itself is 2–4 hours — but it is the last step in a 6–12+ hour job. Here is everything that goes into it, before and after.
Decontamination
A full decontamination wash, clay bar and iron removal lift every bonded contaminant off the paint — nothing gets sealed in under the coating.
Paint correction
Multi-stage machine correction removes swirls, oxidation and light scratches. It is the most time-consuming step and the one that decides how the coating looks for years.
Prep & application
Every panel gets an IPA wipe to bare clear coat, then the coating is worked in panel by panel on a suede applicator in straight overlapping passes, left to flash, and buffed off with a high-GSM microfiber. Reading the flash right is what separates a clean coating from a hazy one.
Cure & aftercare
Keep the car out of rain and car washes for 24–48 hours while the coating sets — it keeps hardening for up to two weeks. Treat it gently in that window and it will last years.

Paint protection FAQ
What is the difference between ceramic coating and PPF?+
Ceramic is a chemical layer that bonds to your clear coat — it delivers gloss, hydrophobics and UV resistance, but it will not stop a rock chip. PPF is a physical urethane film that absorbs impact. Many clients run film on the front end and ceramic over the rest of the car.
Do I really need the paint correction first?+
Yes. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so applying one over swirls and scratches seals those defects in for years. That is why correction is the longest part of the job, and why we inspect the paint under lighting at each stage before moving on.
How long will my car be with you?+
The coating itself is 2–4 hours, but a full ceramic is a 6–12+ hour job once you factor in decontamination, correction, panel prep and inspection. A sealant is quicker; PPF takes longer depending on coverage. We schedule around you and can arrange pickup.
How soon can the car get wet after a coating?+
Keep it out of rain and away from car washes for at least 24–48 hours while the coating sets. It keeps hardening for up to two weeks, so treat it gently in that window — no automatic brushes. After that, a coating-safe hand wash (or our maintenance plan) is all it needs.
Can you apply a coating to a brand new car?+
Absolutely — and it is the ideal time. New paint still needs decontamination and usually light correction, since transport and dealer prep leave marks, but the process is faster and the result lasts longest.
How do I wash a coated car?+
Two-bucket hand wash with a pH-neutral, coating-safe soap, and no automatic brush washes. Our maintenance plans handle it for you on a 40-day schedule and keep your coverage active.
Is paint protection covered by a warranty?+
Ceramic coatings and PPF both carry manufacturer durability ratings, and we stand behind our application. Keeping to the maintenance schedule is what keeps those ratings valid — we will walk you through the specifics at handover.
